Windows download link https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_71b9ad7e388d434fb62f7542e3 Entitlement is *not* required, despite what the page says. To update without booting from iso, or from OS, you can extract the CPQJ0613.684 file from the exe with 7-zip and upload it to the ILO firmware update page instead. A reboot is required to activate or display as the new version

The M.2 slots on the DS1019+ are NVMe/PCIe. Documentation does not list the number of PCIe lanes per slot: https://www.synology.com/en-us/compatibility?search_by=products&model=DS1019%2B&category=m2_ssd_internal&filter_type=M.2 NVMe SSD&p=1

How long is a piece of string? at work I have deployed VEEAM infrastructure (just like 90% of people) that backs up not via SMB but directly. It has multiple snapshots on some replica's of highly important servers, and multiple backups 21 daily Weekly active full's backups Long Term Storage via iSCSI( so it is vulnerable to attack there but they actually have to get access to the server) Daily's for 1 week 5 weekly's 4 Monthly's 5 Quarterly's 8 Yearly's Offsite 15 Days Home I have a similar system Daily PC backups VEEAM Agent for Windows Time Machine for Mac Data Sync'd to NAS Websites Downloaded via scripts to Local Storage NAS Syncs to 2x Offsite 2 Disk NAS' (Mirrored Drives) at two different sites, each store's 8TB OneDrive (each user's one drive is Mirrored to the NAS) Backblaze B2 (Selected this one as I can order a disk with all the data on it unlike many of the other providers) USB HDD This has a TP-Link Kasa plug that turns off and on as required, the Synology ejects the disk once it completes the backup and the plug turns off at a pre-determined time, it turns on about 30 minutes before the backup is due to start so the disk is physically off most of the time. I would like to have it so the Synology sends a command to the switch (lets say 5 minutes) before the backup job starts (could use a wait command) that turns it on, and then another that runs after the job is complete to turn it off but I have not worked this one out yet and Synology have been no help, they just do not seem to be able to grasp the concept of what I want to happen or that I want to run pre-processing and post-process jobs Servers are backed up via VEEAM Now I have a better link I may send these off to the offsite backups above

Hi all, We decided to go a different route with the ML350 and picked up a set of Noctua NH-U9DX i4 coolers which come with the correct mounting hardware for 2011 Narrow ILM. These have proven to be even better than water-cooling in this chassis as they create airflow and direct all the warm air out the back of the chassis. We are planning on adding a few 92mm noctua fans in the existing fan cage to help cool the ram and graphics but as it stands it works perfectly.

Random thoughts on some of the Smart Array controllers. Used P430 and P440 controllers have dropped into the $100-$135 range. These controllers also appear to work well in HPE UEFI based systems. For HPE servers with backplanes with female SFF-8087 connections, cabling options are fairly easy to come by. I have been playing with a P430 in the MicroServer Gen8 and Gen10. I had a female to female SFF-8087 connector to make the cabling work, but they are expensive $60. The P440 is a good choice for the ML30 Gen9 as the server board supports the battery connection. I will share pictures as soon as the forum will let me upload.

Just bought the following SUPERMICRO MOTHERBOARD X9DRi-LN4F+ with two e5-2560s and I noticed that it takes 2x8PIN power rails. Where do I find a power supply that is ATX based that offers that?

coming from a forum where people have nothing better to do than cram 57 disks into a 10x10x10 microserver there should be more appreciation for over-the-top efforts of any kind

I use SmartThings for a hub, so all of my sensors run through that. The waste water line from our house has a tree growing over it. Roots grow through the line and we need to clear it, generally ever 18 months. If it backs up, the floor drain in the basement gets wet. I have a Aeon labs Aeotec water sensor mounted on the wall with the probe mounted on the grate over the drain. It works very well. For my sump pump I have a similar sensor to the Aeon, it is a Everspring water detector: https://www.smartthings.com/products/everspring-water-detector It works well for triggering, but does not reset well, you need to dry it off. Under the water heater, I have a FortrezZ FTS05US Z-Wave Plus Flood & Temperature Sensor: https://www.fortrezz.com/sensors/ Under the kitchen sink I have a SmartThings water sensor: https://www.smartthings.com/products/smartthings-water-leak-sensor About nine months ago I as driving my wife to work. The SmartThings App on my phone let me know the floor drain in the basement was wet. I was able to call my daughter to have her verify there was water around the basement drain. Also, keeping her from taking a shower that would have made the issue worse. Three months ago, while I was working in California, SmartThings app let me know the water sensor under the water heater was wet. Had my wife confirm, water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. Ten days ago I was working back in California, I live in Minnesota, SmartThings App let me know the water sensor under the kitchen sink was wet. Wife confirmed and put a bucket under the garbage disposal. Water was leaking from the disposal drain line. Fixed it with a new gasket. SmartThings and water sensors have saved me a lot of issues.

Looking for Creators for RESET Forums - Are you interested in writing up your gear? Pretty simple. You are surrounded by gear you have purchased right? Why not jump start a new hobby in 2018 and write up your thoughts and experiences with your gear. Servers, drives, PC's, gadgets, etc. Trending tech gear for sure. I'll help you with all the details, photos, headlines, posting it, etc. Perhaps it could lead to review units, etc. I literally have to turn gear away because I can't get to it all. In fact, I could probably mail out some gear today if you can get started! Use the forums PM system to send me a message. Messages in top right of the forum by your photo/login profile or click my head and send me a message! I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey RESET Forums, One of the updates I ran on the forums recently changed some guest permissions so I have been finding guest posts here and there. You will know when you see them, they are total spam, and usually the username says Guest - Melissa or something like that. Alert me with the report post button if you see something like this and I'll squash it. I've since went through all the permissions and removed guest posting. Thanks! Dave

I wish I had the time for it. But I also lack the gift of gab so my articles would be about half a page. Probably not good enough for a technical review.

Generally, you won't. For the most part, you need a server power supply to support this natively. And these get expensive, fast. The connector type (the 8 pin connector on the motherboard) is called an "EPS" connector, in case it helps in your searches. You can find Molex to EPS adapters, though. But remember to find and buy good quality parts here. A decent example is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OSR3V84/
