so why is my BMR taking so long?

I had a litany of difficulties with my client pc, finally ending in needing to BMR my C: drive. It was only 250 gb. In any case, it seems like a multi-hour operation, unlike my experience with server 2011. Looking at the server, it seems to be averaging 95 mbit on the network with spikes to 460mbit. If this is really what is to be expected I am seriously considering going back to WHS2011.

Anyone see better performance for this operation?

my client has an intel gigabit nic fwiw and the R2e server a dual intel gigabit nic with teaming. the switch shows all involved NICs are in gigabit mode

thanks!

The only BMR I did with Essentials took no more than about 60-90 minutes. That being said, BMR is a lot better option than what 2011 could provide.

so maybe I rewrite the thread title: Why I'm sticking with WHS2011 for my backups...

WHS2011: BMR of 183GB C: image: 15 minutes

Server2012R2 with Update and Essentials Experience: BMR of 233GB C: image: 6 hours

both 'experiences' using the same computer and disk drive

newer is not always better...

Whoa, is it always like that or was there a problem somewhere? That's insane!
