Upgrading from N54l (raid 5) to a gen 8 ... what to do?

I've never heard of running backups as an iso image.  By flat file I mean having the files in a format that can be read without the use of third party software.  DOCX--->DOCX, PDF--->PDF, etc

So currently i have:

  • thermal adhesive for ram heatsinks
  • 4 pin molex to 3-4x fan connector (will be hooked upto internal usb via usb -> 4 pin molex adaptor)
  • p222 / 512mb array card with battery and ram
  • 8GB Kingston Stick (from my n54l) ... seems to work based on another user's post         <------ should i get another stick ?
  • 4x 3TB WD Reds (will need to get data off as i need to clean them up from SW -> hardware raid)
  • 250GB Sata SSD (for OS... maybe make 100gb partition as a "cache" <--- will this do anything?
  • picopsu to replace the stock powersupply to make cooling a little easier...
  • dell floppy FDD to Sata power for Sata SSD

waiting on:

  • Intel Xeon E3-1265L V2 (new in box) B)
  • ANTEC spotcool fan to sit in front of array card to get the temps down
  • EverCool EC3007M12CA x4 for a bit more cooling around the case
  • Akasa K25 Mini-ITX Cooler (can only hook into 2 holes but apparently it works) <--- will tie into the 4x fan molex
  • ENZOTECH Memory Ramsink BMR-C1 - to stick onto chipsets that require them
  • Computer PC Fan 12V 4 Pin to 5V USB 2.0 Adaptor
  • 1 Brushless Dc Cooling Blower Fan 4020s      (more cooling :P  )
  • artic silver thermal paste

I love getting parcels
