Any thoughts on these HDDs?

Thinking of getting them from the US on my next trip, allot cheaper then the UK.

Or shall i get the slower green ones?

anyone know if this and other WD drives have international warranty?

I only run NAS spec drives in my Gen8 as its on 24/7, other drives might work but either way I'd get whatever drives you need from the UK in case you need to send them back if they go tits up..

If you are running drives on a RAID controller in general you should use NAS or RAID or Enterprise drives that support TLER.

For normal desktop use you should not run a drive with TLER.

For software RAID or Drive Pooling I would run a good desktop or enterprise drive, without TLER.

In WD terms:

HP MS Gen8 with B120i or P222 use Red

HP MS Gen8 AHCI running Drive Pool use Black or Blue

Hmmm, that mean I'm running the wrong drives then as I'm running a pair of 840Pro's on the B120i, not decided on RAID or AHCI yet.

Then off of the P222 I'll be running 3x4tb Seagate ST4000VN000 drives and 1x 6tb WD60EFRX but will be using Drivepool, is there a Seagate version of WDTLER?

Perhaps Chris might be able to give us a bit of a heads up on TLER and Drivepool?

Seagate NAS drives support TLER as well:

It would be good to have input on Drive Pool and TLER.

If you plan to use Drive Pool have you looked at HP and LSI SAS HBA's instead of the P222?

I have been looking at these to drive 8 external drives:

Nope I haven't looked at other cards, I was picking the P222 because it seems to be the card of choice on here, plus its sat next to me in its antistatic bag so a bit late now lol...
