tinkererguy
I'm wondering if it might be helpful to have a new subforum here, specifically for the Supermicro SuperServer 5028D-TN4T (here's one review). With the existing 3 subforum names: Gen 8, Dell PowerEdge, Lenovo ThinkServer perhaps this would be something like Supermicro SuperServer (they have others), or just Supermicro SuperServer 5028D-TN4T (there's only one anything like this). I strongly believe this new powerful (8 core Xeon D, 128GB RAM) compact server will be an interesting one to discuss, for those looking to step up from the HP MicroServer Gen8. Just a thought. I'm curious how others feel.

Drashna Jaelre
Micro or not. I'm a fan of SuperMicro and ASRock RACK hardware. Fantastic stuff. ANd yes, the mini-itx systems they're releasing definitely have a place here, I think.
Trig0r
Heard of SuperMicro from back in the day, didnt know ASRock did rack stuff though...
Drashna Jaelre
I think the ASRock RACK stuff is fairly recent. However, dealing with ASRock RACK's support, it's absolutely fantastic. They're very helpful, and very nice. As in, I've asked for stuff (flashing custom boot image, changing bios info, experimental firmware to enable S3 sleep, etc) and they've immediately given me the files and documentation. Though, while I've not had a chance to check it out yet, but I've heard that SuperMicro's support .... is on par with Microsoft (consumers get the shaft). tinkererguy
Great conversation guys, just checked back in to catch up. About to make a minor support inquiry with Supermicro today, and this looks promising: 24-Hour SuperServer® Technical Supporthttp://www.supermicro.com/24Hour/24hour.cfm We'll have to see how it actually turns out!
