@Pumek: Running Free Hypervisor 7.0 on GEN8 with B120i disabled and running in AHCI mode. No problems so far and stable. I was not able to update from 6.7U3 even after switching to AHCI mode so I did a clean install.

I did get a message stating that the E3-1265L cpu might not be supported in future releases.

Yes. You need to register on the vmware web site. Then you gain access to download the free version and you  will see a license key to use. Very straightforward.

The ISO image you can find here:

Register here:

Is there an issue with B120i  and esxi 7.0 ?

I also found an hpe custom image, but is not for gen8 and specified install only/no update.

I have a custom hpe 6.7 and I want to  upgarde 7.0, not sure if possible.

Yes there is a problem with b120i driver package.

esxcli software vib remove -n scsi-hpvsa

Thanks

In that case I'm not sure if I'll go to 7; I use the b120i controller because its the only way the fan will go down to 7% (idle). When using ahci is 12-15%, and someone is sleeping in that room :)

I'll search another usb stick and do a fresh install of esxi for testing, only if I convince myself that I won't lose the datastores doing this.

obrigado

How are your settings?

I'm using it with RAID1 + 0 and the Fan goes over 50%

With esxi 7.0 I'm not using the B120i controller; in gen8 bios I chose AHCI. The fan is 12% at 22 celcius ambient.

But how have you been doing RAID?

I'm not using any raid; if I wanted a raid configuration I would need another raid controller, as b120i has issues with esxi7.
Or I could use and configure raid from a virtual machine at OS level ( I think)
