Hi,

New here, just started with a Gen8 Micro 1610, 12 GB, and 512 SSD in cdrom caddy. I found lots of information here so I thought to share a bit:

Just upgraded from 6.5 to 6.5u1. Performance was not as expected (or was it?) so I ran the following test:

cd /vmfs/volumes/datastore1

time dd if=/dev/zero of=tempfile bs=8k count=1000000

1000000+0 records in
1000000+0 records out
real    14m 19.27s
user    0m 8.14s
sys     0m 0.00s

As a result I just I rolled back to .88

- removed current

esxcli software vib remove -n scsi-hpvsa -f
Removal Result
Message: The update completed successfully, but the system needs to be rebooted for the changes to be effective.

real    2m 10.39s

- Almost 7 times faster, HP does not seem to get a handle on the issue here. Is the issue logged with HP?

Hi,

New on the forum,  I have some issue with my SSD Disk where datastore is on.

Upgraded from 6.0 to 6.5u1 and install the vib "scsi-hpvsa_5.5.0-88" and disable "ahci", I have good performance from my 4 HDD SATA disk (Read-Write 170-190MB/s) but with my SSD into the cdrom case I have differents speed:

- Read >> around 220 MB/s

- Write >> between 20-60 MB/s

root@V:~# sync; dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/tempfile bs=1M count=1024; sync
1024+0 enregistrements lus
1024+0 enregistrements écrits
1073741824 bytes (1,1 GB, 1,0 GiB) copied, 26,4059 s, 40,7 MB/s
root@V:~# /sbin/sysctl -w vm.drop_caches=3
vm.drop_caches = 3
root@V:~# dd if=/tmp/tempfile of=/dev/null bs=1M count=1024
1024+0 enregistrements lus
1024+0 enregistrements écrits
1073741824 bytes (1,1 GB, 1,0 GiB) copied, 4,75726 s, 226 MB/s

Do you think that is a ESXi issue ou SSD issue ?

Thanks
