That Micro SD reader thingy on the motherboard...

Can you really install your OS on a microSD for that reader slot on the motherboard? Does it just act like a separate drive?

If so - what's the best MicroSD to use and is this faster than an SSD?

U may install ESXi (vmware hipervisor) to SD card and boot from it like from floppy, all "system" loading to memory and stay on it all time. U need SD only for boot time (at most).

SSD large and faster, I think so :-)

You should only run OS's on USB and SD cards, that were designed to run that way. ESXi, FreeNAS,

Do not run Windows server this way.

mSD will have limited writes as well as being much slower than SSD, even if you have the SSD on SATA2...

Obviously there are some OS's that'll boot from the mSD and then run from memory and have limited writes to the mSD so it could be perfectly acceptable, it depends on what you chose to do with it tbh, I had a mSD in mine for a while with the HP pack stuff on it...
