MicroSever Gen8 with Xeon E3-1265L V2 - Variable RAM frequency

Hi guys,

I observed that since I upgraded the CPU to Intel Xeon E3-1265L V2 the RAM frequency is not constant and it is lower than the expected one (1333/2).

For example:

and

Ram_Freq_2.jpg

I think it is a matter of power saving, but wanted to check if anyone else has this behavior.

With the previous CPU it was constantly 667MHz. (or something..).

Thanks.

The RAM frequency is double the frequency we see in Memory tab. So maybe because the CPU multiplier goes below that value we see also a different RAM frequency. On my other systems I have always a CPU frequency bigger than the Memory one and this is why I cannot see this problem.

For example on my main system I keep it overclocked to 4.5GHz, so it is always bigger than 933MHz, the frequency shown in Memory tab:

Ram_Freq_3.jpg

Yep, this has to be, the memory controller integrated in the CPU works at the frequency of the CPU.... Simple and logic. I think I need a coffee :)
