Hi all - apologies for asking this.. I have 8gb (2 x 4gb) installed in my N40L and I was wondering if they're compatible with my new, as of yet unopened, Gen 8 server?

Thanks

What is the part number of the memory? The Gen8 requires unbuffered ECC memory. DDR3-1600 or DDR-1333.

Thanks. I can't remember what I have in my N40L. I'm at work and I just wondered so I posted.

I'll have to check tonight.

In some cases, Yes.

The Gen8 takes Non-Registered ECC RAM – check what works at http://homeservershow.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5639-proliant-microserver-gen8-links/

I moved Kingston ECC KVR1333D3E9SK2-16G that I had been using in my N54L and later N40L to my Gen8 without issue
