Hopefully the motherboard comes out from the rear easy, never done it before so hoping it's staight forward.

I will have a read up on how to do it with the links on here.

Ok it's now fitted, i followed the youtube video above and done some reading as well, only took 30 minutes to complete.

I have not gone in the bios as my G8 sits in a spare room on it's own and i only RDP into it.

Not sure what the best cpu util is to run in windows 8.1 but i got open hardware monitor running and it reports cpu temps of 33 deg C at cpu speed 1.6ghz.

I am not set up for ILO so can't use that.

Is there anything i need to disable in the bios for the cpu, like turbo or something, so it does not run at 3.2ghz ?

Thanks.

Are you using the 1265l?

if so, just run it at defaults - i didn't disable turbo or anything with mine and it works fine - no heat issues or anything.

you can get a trial ilo licence for 2 months from HP, after that get one off eBay for about £15.

Hi Snapper,

Yes its the 1265L, ok i will leave the bios alone then.

I would like to set up ILO but it means i have to run another network lead around the house into a switch in another room, maybe i need to get this done as i've heard it's good etc.

Thanks

you can set up ilo to share one of the primary NIC's, so only one cable/port is needed.

Ok thanks, didn't realised you posted a link. I'm all set up now with a 60 trial license as well.

Thanks for the tip by the way, i put off doing this as i thought i needed two network leads.

What sort of idle cpu temps should i be getting for the 1265L ?

Only asking so i know i've fitted the heatsink as best i can.

Thanks
