Active Cooling CPU options for 1240V2

Hi everyone,

I'm looking a building a few microservers for a home lab but I'm worried about cooling if I upgrade to a 1240 V2 as it's quite an upgrade from the standard CPU.

I was thinking of going down adsboel's 4 x NF-A4x10 FLX but I can't for the life of my work out the options for connecting it to the power supply.

Any ideas? Do you think this will allow enough cooling to run at 4 cores HT?

Many thanks in advance, if I should move this post please let me know

There is a standard PC power molex connector feeding the 4 bay drive cage. You can insert a splitter there and then use a molex to fan plug adapter or a fan with a molex plug already on it.

Cool so something like this is the best way to connect it: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=76&lng=en

Yes. You can get similar cables but with more fan connectors as well.

Edit: I assume it would be a bit loud however with no control from the BIOS?

Yes. It would be running at full speed unless you added a fan controller like the Zalman fanmate to adjust the speed. There is no way for the microserver to monitor or control the fan as HP only provided a single connector for the chassis fan. Edited by GotNoTime
