Gen8 microserver read write speed vs synology

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the read write Mbps speed of network + hdd (non ssd) diskio for gen8 proliant microserver ?

It has an hp raid controller , does it work with Debian linux or centos ?

I am thinking of using it as a backup + file + media server for home. Either using freenas + zfs or zfs without raid .

Will the above setup be faster in read/write speed for backup file server than Synology 4 bay ? Because they have similar price diskless

The HP Microserver is quite capable of 1970 mbps (227 megbytes a second) of actual throughput over smb multipath

with standard frames, there's no comparison

your limiting factor will be hd speed of the slowest device your pulling/pushing from if devices arnt raided
