Igel
Just wondering, do you experience problems when VT-d is on with latest 1070? Like described here: https://forums.lime-technology.com/topic/39003-marvell-disk-controller-chipsets-and-virtualization/ Hmm does not seem like it, or I don't know where to look, though this report may be Intel specific and I'm running a Ryzen 5 1600. Both IOMMU and full virtualization support are on enabled (not auto) in the motherboard and Hyper-V 2012 R2 server boots just fine, even without any windows updates. This is when when secure boot is set to "Other OS". As soon as secure boot is set to "Windows-UEFI" i no longer see the VD in the boot list with the bios based oprom, but I guess I can live with that. Igel
A small update on the 1070 from the supermicro FTP: 1. If using secure boot set to "Other OS" in mobo bios I need to have 1070 bios oprom flashed: ImageA1.bin CRC32 CheckSum : 206B568C. This allows to select VD as bootable. This also has bios oprom screen (CTRL+M) showing. When switching secure boot to "Windows-UEFI" the VD is no longer bootable. 2. When secure boot is set to "Windows-UEFI" I need to have 1070 uefi oprom flashed: ImageA1.bin CRC32 CheckSum : F998771D. This does not have oprom screen and needs uefi shell+utility to manage outside of OS. VD shows bootable on UEFI screen. There are no smart issues here. When switching secure boot to "Other-OS" the VD is no longer bootable. If you plan to use UEFI signed OS only (I do) I think it is best to stick to uefi oprom. I'll be running it for a few days, but it allows better initialization (screen res in hyper-v server console is proper). If you don't need secure boot, or need to boot unsigned os, stick to bios oprom. This changelog file is an interesting read: http://www.wikifortio.com/844381/history.txt It is also easy to rebuild 1064 with both bios and uefi to proper 9230 image from a syba 9235 update, so it means the 1065 from startech can also be rebuilt with uefi if needed. Interestingly a 1065 change accroding to the above changelog is "Implemented BugID#6559("[Wistron/9170] Add a flag to control adapter 1 and 2 HDD detect sequence for Multiple OptionROM")." It's not very clear how to build this, but if I have some free time I may play some slice and splice of the different firmwares. Espada card on 9230 chip connected to ASROCK H55DE3 PCIe16 port. A1 chip. Symptom: Current PCIe link: 1X. FW used 1065, 1058, 1070 with no change. Speed 5Gb\s. When connected to PCIe 4x port, PCIe link: 2X with 2.5 Gb\s speed. Any ideas Bros? Btw, system is bootable if disable onboard SATA only... Otherwise freeze 1min before W10 boot if lucky.
