How does portability make the data more resilient?

I take the viewpoint that anything that makes data less susceptible to loss adds to its resilience, and that the ease with which this can be done is a factor. So, being able to easily relocate data, as in a mobo failure for example, is a contributor  to data resilience. Just my 2 cents.

So USB external drives would be the most resilient because they are the most portable?

I only said portability is a contributing factor for me, not the whole enchilada. Resilience is multifaceted. Certainly USB external drives can add to resiliency, but they're also certainly not the end all and be all.
