Preferred Method for replacing faild disk in storage spaces?

As I have seen many people on here and other forums running into issues when confronted with a failed disk. (Including myself as I have tried to replace a failed drive with poor results ie. another unrelated healthy disk was retired for some reason possibly because I renamed the new disk to that of the old one before the old one was disconnected or I didn't disconnect the old one when I added the new one so they were connected at the same time.) I would like to know what is the preferred step by step method for replacing a failed disk? Would like to especially know the method for using the dashboard user interface. among the server manager or the Windows power shell.

Thank you for anyone with this knowledge.

Best bet with Storage Spaces is to use the PowerShell commands, honestly.

Also where did you create the storage spaces pool to start with? If you used the control panel, then you may not have as many options...
