phillips321 4
Hi guys, I have EXPenology running under 5.5u2 but fore some reason media transcoding isn't enabled for the media server component. Can this be enabled? Is the CPU (1610) powerful enough to transcode 1080p? Many thanks
HellDiverUK 99
At a guess, Synology use the QuickSync function of whatever CPU they use the the Play machines. The G1610 doesn't have Quicksync, you'd probably need an i3.

HellDiverUK 99
I hope I was correct, then.
GotNoTime 219
Quicksync doesn't work in a VM without doing some fiddling that isn't recommended by VMware. You need to passthrough the Intel graphics adapter but then you lose display for the host. I'm not sure Quicksync even works for the gen 8 microserver when running bare metal as the chipset doesn't support the CPU graphics and has its own crappy Matrix G200 clone instead. ikon 439
If the PCIe slot is empty, you could maybe install a GPU and use that to help transcoding??
