Hi All,

Can someone recommend a sata PCie x1 card for the Microserver N54L. ?

currently i have my n54l with modded bios and the four bay drives have 1TB WD red drives in Raid 5.

What i want to achieve is to have  total 6 drives. 4x1TB + 2x500GB SSD.

I know i could do this with a P410 but i have a quad nic already installed and only have PCie x1 slots available.

Any ideas/suggestion?

Thanks

RS

Thanks schoondoggy,

This card on the other post seems to be pcie x2.

Yes it will work but your better off getting this

http://www.amazon.co...ailpage_o02_s00

its pci-e 2.0 x2 and also has 4 ports much better card

will this card work on a pcie x1 ?

this is for n54l which only has pcie x1 since the pcie x16 im already using for a quad nic card

Regards

RS

Sorry, this is a x1 with all ports internal:

http://www.amazon.com/IO-Crest-Controller-Non-Raid-SI-PEX40064/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/ref=lp_3015424011_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1425232956&sr=1-1

This is a non RAID version different Marvell chipset from the first.

I will look for differences.

The x2 board uses the 88SE9230 the x1 board uses 88SE9215:

http://www.marvell.com/storage/system-solutions/assets/Marvell-88SE92xx-002-product-brief.pdf

The 9230 has RAID and HyperDuo the 9215 does not.

If you are just looking for SATA ports I think boards based on the 9215 will be fine.

Just to cover all the bases miccas, a PCIe x2 card will NOT work in a PCIe x1 slot — it won't physically fit into the slot. With PCIe you can always fit a smaller card (e.g. x1) into a bigger slot (e.g. x16), but you cannot fit a larger card (e.g. x4) into a smaller slot (e.g. x1).

I suspect the 9215 is a 9230 with features disabled

if your not going to use raid it makes no difference

though if you look hard enough im sure someone does a 9230 with an x1 interface
