phillips321
Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out if the motherboard in a default state has 5 or 6 sata ports. I have 5 drives to use, 4x2TB 3.5" and an SSD. Is the best place to connect the SSD the ODD port? Also if i need to use the SSD as RAID and not AHCI will ESXi support the trim function? Many thanks
HellDiverUK
Technically it only has 1 SATA port. There's a SFF8087 port which breaks out to 4 SATA drive bays.
Trig0r
Wrong, there is also a header on the motherboard for the ODD bay.

Yeah, the single SATA port on the motherboard is the one for the ODD port. Trig0r, perhaps you're thinking of the microSD slot?
