I have an Old Big Ass Dell XPS Gen4 desktop (it even still glows in electric blue to - ooohhhhh) and I want to set it up as a web and file server for my Linux based pc's and even my android tablet. I also want to be able to access it remotely (say if I'm in Chicago). what would anybody out there suggest I do with this X gaming behemoth sitting under my computer desk collecting dust?

p.s. yes I have a western digital green 3tb HDD to go with it.

Thank You very much

AO!!!

Have you checked out "Amahi"?
I'm not sure if you're familar with it (or WHS), but it's touted as the "Linux answer to WHS". It does file sharing, web site, Dynamic DNS, etc. It is supposed to be much easier to set up than alternatives.

Otherwise, FreeNAS and NAS4Free are also good options.
