Backup Service not Running and other errors

For for approxiamately the  past week, (ever since the most recent Windows Update I believe) I'm noticing that my CPU is maxed out, the backup service is disabled, demigrater and backup constantly running are generating large log files, and the c drive is full.

Is anyone else noticing unusual behavior on the V1 boxes?  Any ideas as to what may be causing this (am I correct in attributing it to something with the updates) ?

Platform -

HP Mediasmart EX485

modded BIOS to EX495

quad core CPU

Are you saying the C: drive is full because of log files?

Not sure what's filling up the drive just yet.

When I look at the following location

C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles

There are ~136meg of log files going back several years.

When I look at the following location

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\logs

There are several gig of files.

THe largest being named

DEUtil.calendardate.numbers.log

Basically they are filled with lines similar to this

I have Home Server SMART Addin and haven't gotten indication of a bad disk.

In my mediasmart server (which has 4 bays), I believe the top bay would be disk three (with the first slot being disk 0 and also the sys disk).   I have that top slot occupied with a disk that I back up the server.

I have just removed this drive by first going to the server storage tab and clicking remove and then physically removing from the server.

If I have the drive numbering incorrect, I suppose that one of my drives that drive extender uses could be failing but wouldn't SMART detect this?

I believe you have the numbering correct. Also, I think I would want to know what's taking up all the space. A drive that's too full could interfere with backups.

Thats 10% of one gig so your issue is not there with regards to space.

Run this PowerShell script to see where the largest files/folders are:

http://robwillis.info/data/scripts/lowDiskSpace/lowDiskSpace.txt

If you get an error message saying scripts are disabled, run this one first:

Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned

Most likely the backups are failing because Windows wants some space to create a Shadow copy and you have none.

Kinda of a novice.

How do I run this script?
