Router won't UPnP for WHS 2011 Remote Web Access

Recommended Posts

jmwills, I think your input would be good here. g725s posted his homeserver URL in a PM to me. What I get when I try it is that the certificate has been revoked. Seems to me you've done a bit of work with certificates. Any idea?

4125 isn't needed .... despite what people may say.   As for port 80, I have Cox as well. They DEFINITELY block port 80 by default. You can get around this by buying the business package...... And

Yes, WPA2 Personal + AES -> that's the ticket.   And, yes, use https://. It's more secure. Gradually, web sites are migrating to https anyway. Http is just too vulnerable.

My feeling is that, today, everyone should use https everywhere they can.

Using IE, I get:

There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.

This organization's certificate has been revoked.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.   We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.   Click here to close this webpage.

This is what I get also using IE.  Thanks for checking.  :)

It works with my Android phone using Chrome on it.  But not on my Windows 7 laptop.

I'm recently using McAfee (because it was free), but I don't think that is the reason, Especially since you get the same message.

No, I don't think it's McAfee (I can't believe I just said that).

Have you tried Chrome from your laptop? It might be worth installing it just to test, at least until jmwills gives the real answer ;)

Yes, As I mentioned above I've tried both IE and Chrome from my Windows 7 laptop.  It is the same type of notice with both.  But with my Android phone and Chrome (as it is all I use)  it works.  I am at my friends house using her wireless.  Don't see why it would be her wireless.  I set it up for her it is my old router.

Using Chrome from laptop:

You need to check that a self signed cert is not being used.

How do I do this?  I use my phone and the login page works and I can even access files.  But on my Windows 7 laptop I'm having this problem trying two different browsers.

Check the bindings in IIS for the default site.

Ok.  That's greek to me.  I'll ask then.  How would I do that?

And what would be the reason my phone would work but not my laptop using wireless from a friend?  Tomorrow I'll be able to test my laptop tethered to my phone.

But then again ikon is getting the same error from the link I PMed him.
