schoondoggy
Nice case, not sure about availability: http://www.ablecom.co.uk/Products/chassis/CS-M50/
scruffters
I would love to have one of these to try. They look to retail for around 100GBP inc. PSU and are in-stock over here: http://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/server-cases/tower-cases/ablecom-soho-nas-chassis-black--250w-psu-cs-m50/ I posted this spec in the other thread, but it is more relevant here: http://download.boston.co.uk/downloads/5/3/9/539babf4-7f92-4bf8-8de7-1d10a60a4cef/Bizie%20Server%20(CeBIT%202014).pdf This is a sample build that Boston UK provide. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway, just came across this on my travels when looking for a Gen8 alternative. Looks like some people are fitting the Supermicro A1SAi-2750F, which is an Atom setup w/Quad LAN - ain't cheap though: http://www.servethehome.com/Server-detail/supermicro-a1sai-2750f-review/ As an alternative to iLO you'd have Supermicro IPMI, which is pretty good IMO. Then again, there are heaps of boards that would potentially fit.
HellDiverUK
It's very like the Chenbro case, but with a better PSU and fan layout. Very interesting, would have been something I'd have been interested in about 3 months ago when I was trying to fit out my new server.
Zenon
Nice case, not sure about availability: http://www.ablecom.co.uk/Products/chassis/CS-M50/ I think the ixsystems uses it in its freenas platform: http://www.ixsystems.com/storage/freenas/ . ikon
I'm always very leery to use the, typically, cheapo PSUs that come with cases. I usually prefer to put in a high quality, name brand PSU.
HellDiverUK
Ablecom seems to be a Supermicro brand, and their PSUs seem to be used in Supermicro cases too (going by a quick eBay search for Ablecom).
ikon
That could make a difference. That's why I say 'leery' instead of 'no way in hell'. Supermicro is a good brand so I would definitely be more inclined to use the 'default' PSU.
schoondoggy
I think the ixsystems uses it in its freenas platform: http://www.ixsystems.com/storage/freenas/ . I think you are right, I thought it looked familiar. If IXsystems is using it, it must be a good quality case, backplane and PSU.

My only gripe with Chenbro in the past has been the quality of things like the backplane - had a few issues. What board would you folks opt for? I have been considering this one from Tyan: http://tyan.com/Motherboards_S5533_S5533GM2NR-LE Also, thanks for posting the original CS-M50 link!
