TechNet itself still exists. The download section of TechNet is gone.

Also, the keys are still valid. Even after the subscription ends. Mine ended ~2 years ago.The keys still work. ;P

MSDN and TechNet keys can ONLY be used for testing.  So I use them just for that -- testing different types of HW configs on installs etc.

 

I have two OEM keys for my Production machine -- one installed and running now and one for backup if that 1st Production machine goes belly up and I need to do a Production install on another machine.  OEM keys are tied to one machine per the EULA.

Precisely. That is also part of why TechNet was discontinued. Too many people abusing it... :(

 

That said, I have an army of VMs in HyperV that i use for testing and experimentation.
