tinkererguy 22
Like many of you, I've relied on Microsoft Windows based home server products for 7 or 8 years now. And I still like it, but there have been bumps in the road lately, even with R2. So I recently took notice of this: http://go.veeam.com/endpoint It does bare metal restores, and interesting that they're "paying" superstar beta testers with 6 Surface Pro 3 tablets. Any of you tried this yet? As for me, still awaiting my beta approval/download instructions. An excerpt from their announcement here: http://www.veeam.com/blog/announcing-veeam-endpoint-backup-free.html Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE is a product that allows you to backup your Windows-based computers to an internal or external hard drive, a NAS share or a Veeam Backup Repository. It writes the backups in VBK format, which is the same format as Veeam Backup & Replication.
ikon 439
Interesting Tinkerguy. I assume you're looking at this as a potential replacement for WHS*? *I'm using WHS as a general term for any of the MS products that include the WHS style client backup feature.
schoondoggy 895
We are a distributor of Veeam, one of my engineers worked under NDA on this. That's about all I can say for now. He did smile when I asked about it.
schoondoggy 895
Although free is nice, is it better than this at $23 per machine: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/brh/index.html
Joe_Miner 254
It's nice to have options --
ikon 439
I just wish there was another SIS option that isn't enterprise class, with enterprise type pricing.
Dave 434
I just put this in shownotes for next week. I signed up for Veeam but I haven't been able to find the actual beta download!
Poppapete 104
I signed up. So this is just like acronis only free!
Technogod 8
I wouldn't trust my data to a Beta I'd choose Acronis TI 2014 over Paragon Backup & Recovery 15 Home. Acronis seems to be much more user friendly and it has saved me more times than I can count.
ikon 439
I haven't used Paragon, but I sure don't find Acronis user friendly in any sense of the world. If Paragon is worse that's pretty abysmal.
