HP MS G8 2.5" drive bracket

Recommended Posts

This is my take on the drive bracket with some slight differences from SCHOONDOGGY (many thanks to him for the idea etc..)

Drives moved higher to give more clearance

Brackets 10mm to ensure there are no airflow restrictions on the psu

I wont be selling these as its a bit unfair on SCHOONDOGGY

and tbh i cant be bothered

But i will supply plans for people like myself who are outside the usa and want it quickly

and are capable of doing it

I advise if you are in the us to support SCHOONDOGGY as his price is very fair

if i was us based i would have just picked one up from him

I have tested this on paper cutouts today and all seems fine

This is setup for 1.5mm Zintec Sheet Metal

And i will be laser cutting myself a few on monday

and will post images of the final bracket

when i fit it

anyway here's the plans for anyone interested in Autocad, CorelDRAW, PDF format and are to scale

Oddly my order from amazon turned up today on a sunday ..

Wanting to try out the

Marvel 9230 PCI-E 2.0 2x  Controller

I decided to set it up on a temp basis

It has worked out quite well (fan lowest setting)

Samsung M9T 2TB (top) 29°

Hitachi HTS545050A7E380 (side) 31°

I may well leave them like so but will still make a bracket tomorrow and post an image of it

Both drives where secured with 3 strips of 3M VHB

Actually, I don't think it's odd that it showed up on a Sunday. Amazon has likely initiated their yearly holiday season delivery protocol, which calls for longer delivery hours on weekdays and deliveries on weekends as well.

sorry to be a bit offtopic - but did you have to do anything special to get that PCI card recognised in the Gen8? I have tried 2 Addonics eSata cards (ADSA3GPX1-2E) and they just don't seem to get recognised. (Mine is a bare bones Win2k12 server with no ODD or RAID fanciness)

Did you install the driver?

I've used an Sil-3132 card. I'm pretty sure I had to install its driver before it would work (or maybe that was just to get multi-port working).
