Dave
I'm curious if anyone here has un-installed twonky from an EX490 or 495? I've also seen some info on removing the HP software as well. Goal is to reduce server overhead. Anyone? Might be a good future topic.

Dave
Any repercussions?
dvn
I haven't noticed problems whatsoever. But I must say that I haven't been doing anything other than PC backups and file backup/storage for the last few months with my server . If you have something specific in mind, like can you still do this or can you still do that, let me know and I'll be glad to test it out.
cskenney
Mine is configured with NO media sharing folders. Thus, nothing to index. I am sure the program is still setting resident in memory.
dvn
Also, you can reinstall Twonky should you want to uninstall it for now. This is the installer: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server\PVConnectMediaServer.msi You'd then reapply the 3 updates located in this folder, in order of release: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server\data\.updates\.applied\ MSDV301433083ServerPatch.exe MSDV321... MSDV331...
cskenney
dvn - What version of the HP software are you using? I have 3.0 loaded on my EX485 and It doesn't match what you list above.
dvn
EX495 - 3.3.1.35433 I believe Dave has an EX495 also. But in any case, the trick is to install in order of release date.
Dave
I have a customer who has a 495 and thought about getting it out of memory since they don't use it.
dvn
Just disable it in msconfig. That should be enough. *Dave, I'd better update my info. When I previously uninstalled Twonky, I made a copy of PVConnectMediaServer.msi because uninstalling Twonky deletes that file. The other files - the updates in the \.applied folder - remain. So I just got done uninstalling, then reinstalling Twonky and that went OK. It works as well as it ever did, which is to say not well at all.
