Hi

My first post here and its about a strange error i just recently get.

The Integrated Management Log reports

  • Unrecoverable System Error (NMI) has occurred. System Firmware will log additional details in a separate IML entry if possible
  • An Unrecoverable System Error (NMI) has occurred (System error code 0x00000002, 0x00010002)
  • Uncorrectable Memory Error ((Processor 1, Memory Module 1))

I have bought 2 new RAM modules, switched places with them also tried to add the old CPU back but after a while i get the exact same error as above, can it be some hardware fault on the motherboard??

The temperature is far below the thresholds

My setup

Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1230 V2 @ 3.30GHz
2 x Kingston - Minne - 8 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800

ROM:J06 06/06/2014 iLO Firmware Version 1.51 Jun 16 2014

HP SPP 201406

Windows Server 2012 R2

What is the part number of the memory?

Did the error start the first time you put the new memory in?

Did the error happen with the old memory?

No i upgraded the SPP then installed the new processor after a few days the error came, i switched back to the old processor still same error, then i bought new RAM same as before, but still same error.

Did the error happen with the old memory?

Hate to say it, but this is beginning to sound like a memory controller issue: i.e. the chipset on the mobo. What do you think schoondoggy?

Is the server running ok or is it crashing. Most searches point to this error being a iLo issue. You may want to try clearing iLo

The server reboots ( the OS reports an unexpected shutdown) then during BIOS post check it stops with a red screen with NMI error and the log above. If I then remove power for a few sec before I boot the server, it runs from a couple of hour to almost a day, I got a feeling that if I start things that consumes a lot of RAM it crashes more often. I'm now trying to run it with only one RAM module.

Clearing ilo? How do I do that?

Can you put some extra cooling on the server for a while, to test if it's heat related. One way would be to take the cover off and put a fan next to it.

I have the original CPU back, with increased cooling and i have not seen any cause of thermal shutdown and the temperature sensors has never been close to the trigger value.

I have now been running the server with one RAM module the whole evening and night with no error, i will keep it running with this config until tomorrow and then try another RAM during the weekend.
