RocketRaid 2680 New OS Install

Recommended Posts

jmhenry5150

Hey guys!

I currently have a RocketRaid 2680 with 8 x 3TB drives...and pretty full  <_<

My current OS is WHS 2011 and I would like to install Server 2012 Standard R2.

My backup is my neighbor, he has an exact setup and file set.

So, in theory, I should be able to install Server 2012 R2, install the RocketRaid drivers and then my RAID and my data should magically appear and all of my data should be safe and ready to go?

I would hate to lose my data and have to spend 2-3 days restoring...

Any thoughts on the easiest path with the least resistance here?

I would pull out the card until the OS is installed and stable.  Install the card and any needed updates and the data should be just fine.

Will I have to do anything special to get the card up in windows as a drive?

Nothing other than assigning a Drive Letter, if my logic is correct.

YMMV.  (Your mileage may vary)

Yes, I agree with jmwills, particularly about disconnecting everything non-essential until the OS is installed and stable.
