Thought I might share a little project I made this winter.

Sorry about the perhaps poor english, not my native language. :)

1.jpg

Not all the parts, have a mesh and two 40mm fans also that´s going in the case.

2.jpg

The rails that makes it possible to mount two 3.5" drives in the 5.25" bay.

3.jpg

So far, very empty.

4.jpg

Drives mounted in the top with the rails.

5.jpg

Power connected with a molex splitter.

6.jpg

Fans also connected, as you can se I used a little fanspeed reducer aswell.

7.jpg

Everything connected, just the pretty stuff on the outside left.

(Had to split the post up due to restrictions in the forums.)

8.jpg

Two get some more air in/out of the chassis ODD bay I planed to mount the fans there and make it look somewhat nice.

This is a template of paper that I transferd over to a piece of mesh.

9.jpg

Template from the front.

10.jpg

Early stage of the mesh, but you can see what I was aiming for.

11.jpg

From the back.

12.jpg

Mounted. View from the front.

13.jpg

Meanwhile I was busy with the mesh I started to install and test the system, worked greate.

14.jpg

Fans mounted in the fron behind the mesh.

15.jpg

Fans and mesh from the front.

16.jpg

All mounted and done.

17.jpg

Finished project, atleast the hardware part. Fitted a temperature reader between the two top drives to monitor and make sure they don´t get to hot.

That is very nice work.  Where did you get the brackets to hold the top two drives?

Really nice work on the mesh  - very professional looking. I'm very glad to see you're being careful about the HDD temps because that would be one of my greatest concerns. I was thinking it might be nice to place some mesh at the back, behind the drives, maybe move the fans there, but your temps are looking good so.....

Didn´t remember to write it down but the box is kitted with two 4GB sticks with ECC support, makes 8GB total. Haven´t had any problem yet with lack of memory but two 8GB sticks with ECC support wouldn´t heart, if the N54L supports it.

Think you saw schoondoggys answer below, but I think I bought it from Amazon or eBay, didn´t find any similar in Sweden so I had to buy it from overseas.

Very nice work!  Really like the fans and the mesh on top!

Thanks!

Thank you. The first plan I had was to mount two fans in the back aswell but after my first test I noticed that it wasn´t necessary.

Beautiful! Great workmanship.

The mesh is a great idea.

Yeah, looks much better. :)

Great post. Thank you for joining the forums and sharing that with us.  Now, can you bring it to Meetup2014?  ;)
