That appears to be a full height card. It will not physically fit in a MS Gen8.

You always know how to shoot a guy down :P lol

Thanks I'll keep looking. Unless you have a suggestion? Looking for a 4GB compatible GPU.

Hi all.

Want to check if this would fit into the Gen8? Crossing fingers it gets your approval.

That does not look like it will fit. It is a mini card. It is short for chassis that are not deep, but it is still a full height card. Cards for the micro server need to be low profile. The GT 1030 cards come in a low profile version and they tend to be single slot, not too thick. The GDDR5 versions are much faster than the DDR4:

There were some low profile GTX 1050 cards. Height should be fine, but some of the two slot designs may not fit:

Since installing the GTX1050Ti I have had issues with screen blackouts - would go black very briefly.  I do believe this is probably specific to my monitor (BDM4065UC/75 40" 4K) but will capture here as it may help others - this is a copy paste from Nvidia forum:

I installed a GTX1050Ti and started having issues when surfing the web, remote desktop to my NUC and very especially during image selection after capture in Kscan3D.  My screen would go black for a very brief moment (1s maybe) and then come back as normal (screensaver also failing to work), a further delay for my audio to come back - screen is a 40" Philips 4K connected via DP.  I tried:

1. Different cables, including HDMI

2. Latest drivers and BIOS

3. Different resolutions and refresh rates

4. Windows Update (am W10 Pro)

None of the above worked fully, further tries:

5. DDU tool and original display driver (2017) install, did help with blackouts BUT screen crashed when screensaver tried to kick in, a later (but NOT latest) driver had same issue with blackouts

6. Different screen (only 1080p though), NO blackouts, but then again, my 4K screen on the NUC (same cable) at 4K 60Hz gave NO blackouts so assume monitor is GOOD

SOLVED:

7. In NVIDIA control panel ("Manage3D Settings") I disabled Vertical Sync as well as set Power management to Max Performance.  My monitor is neither G-Sync or Free-Sync so those options in Nvidia control panel didn't even show.

NB, I am using a HP Microserver Gen8, modified with E3-1240 V2 Xeon and of course the GTX1050Ti BUT still on original 140W PSU - the Seasonic 250W is in the post.  As such I did play with BIOS settings and remove all but C:\ drive as well as reduce to 2x cores (from 4) in case it was a lack of power giving me blackouts.

All is good except that the W10 1093 update has screwed the Remote Desktop - a known issue and awaiting a fix from MS.  As such, 1093 update uninstalled to get Remote Desktop back

Ive just installed a Nvidia quadro p600 in mine... fits perfectly and helps out greatly for transcoding for plex and Emby servers.

The Quadro p400, p600, p620 and P1000 will fit and give you 4x 4k @60hz outputs

But the p400 wont do transcoding.

I have used a few cards both in the G7 and G8 to get 4K @ 60Hz.  I am currently on the GTX1050Ti but this requires modification to fit whereas my ATI 7450HD was straight forward installation.  These cards use DP and I believe your monitor needs DP1.2 at least to get 60Hz.

I don't do transcoding Or Plex (at least yet) so can't comment on that.  I use Minix Android boxes on my TVs and they stream from the G7 anyway.

Just to correct my post above, I used an ATI HD7750 in the G7 to get 1080p

For Gen8 I have used ATI HD7450, 7470 and of course Nvidia GTX1050Ti - all gave 4K @ 60Hz
