Installation Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials Evaluation with my full retail versions key

Recommended Posts

Hello,

will I be able to install Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials Evaluation with my full retail versions key?

So that after installation it will be Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.

The system will be downloaded from: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter/dn205288.aspx

Or, could you please give me the link to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials "safe" iso.

Thank you in advance.

If it was me, I would just try it. If it complains, you have your answer. If it doesn't, well, you're good to go.

No.  Microsoft is the only download location.  If you install the Eval version, you have to rebuild with the "paid" version.

For Windows Server 2012 Essentials: You can convert to the full retail version by entering a retail, volume license, or OEM key in the command slmgr.vbs.

So, rebuild is not necessary. Edited by Zenon

I don't think that is true.  Not 100% certain.  For instance, how are you going to enter a VL key without a key management server?

Yup, definitely. :)

And I knew that Retail and MAK's worked for the Eval image.
