Printers spitting out extra blank page...

Funny thing if you print a 3 page document it spits out a 4th page that is blank.  It does it in all programs word, excel, internet etc you name it.  If you print a 1 page it spits out a second blank one.  If you print a single page with 10 copies it spits out one extra blank page.  Brain boggling...

I've seen this in the past. The fix depends on the make & model of printer, but there are a couple of things you could look at first:

  1. what paper sizes are assigned as the defaults for the trays. If, for example, the tray(s) are set to A4 paper and your clients are trying to print 8.5x11, it could cause (or it's the other way round, but you get the idea);

  2. check if the printer and/or client computers have the printer set to print 'separator pages'. These are basically pages that are used to divide one print job from another. In very heavy use situations, with many different people sharing the same printer, this can be a really useful way of helping people find only their print job, and not get the first page or two of someone else's job at the bottom of theirs. For the rest of us, it's just annoying. ;)
