Easy mod to add more 2.5" or 3.5" drives to a T20

Anyone else smell a massive overheating problem coming on with so many mechanical drives in a poorly vented Dell ? Maybe not so much with SSD's, but it's not a real world option. .. :(

Yeah, that worries me too. Mind you, I'm a self-admitted HDD cooling fanatic.

Thanks again schoondoggy. With the plastic caddies in, it doesn't look that they're different size, but you're right, there's less space in the top bay cage.

@jmwills Right. My latest hobby is to fit 8x 3.5'' hard drives in a T20 :)

Anyone else has any idea about that?

@schoondoggy Any chance your 4x 3.5'' adapter could fit?

If you need to mount two 2.5" drives in 3.5" bays on the T20 these work;

It is a little tight, but they fit;

As for adding four more 3.5" drives, I am still working on it. This picture is a 5 drive bay out of a rack-mount server. I am trying to find a four drive version of the same type of cage;

Any news schoondoggy?

Even a 2x 3.5'' solution would be great! But a 4 drive solution would be ideal. I'm a little concerned about the PSU not being able to power up the system with that many (8) 3.5'' drives.

I'll have the Orico s tomorrow and I'll have a few more T20s coming this week.

schoondoggy, any news on that giant server cage fitting the T20?

What do you think about fitting a top T20 cage (from another machine) in that (middle) spot? Would that work?

That's what I was thinking. Still trying to find another T20 Upper Drive Cage; I asked Dell if they are sold but so far no response and I don't have another T20 to pull one from. I bet that cage is not unique to the T20 so I'll keep looking.
