IF space isnt an issue and you can get away with a bigger unit then does anyone have thoughts on the ML310e Gen8 v2?

Already comes with a Xeon E3-1220v3 4Gb RAM and a 1Tb HDD...

Code is 724160-035, comes in at less than £400 GBP ex VAT...

It is a great server. I think you have to buy the drive trays, unlike the microserver the 310 does not come with them.

There have been some good deals on ML310e to make room for the ML310eV2.

The start at the top price of a MS Gen8, plus you can get into a Xeon CPU.

You should consider the Dell T20 and Lenovo TS140 as well.

Are these units more of a low end enterprise unit though or lab units for students ?

Are the noise levels beyond same room use.... ie I have all my computer gear in one room in the house at the moment and the low/zero noise from a microserver is well suited to that

ty in advance

Essexraptor, the Lenovo TS140 has very good reviews for low noise.

I must admit the Dell T20 looks VERY intresting for the price with a Xeon...Does anyone have one?

Lenovo TS140 is a bit more expensive.
