Seeing P222 in iLO4

Recommended Posts

I thought you could use IP to update the P222 FW but all I had was iLo, BIOS and b120

If you're running a supported OS I believe HPSum will do what you want.

* RECOMMENDED * HP Smart Update Manager  6.2.0.0 (14 Jan 2014)  hpsum620.zip

Though the Firmware update is pretty fast if you download it to your server and double click the exe

Firmware - Storage Controller  * RECOMMENDED * Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - Smart Array P220i, P222, P420i, P420, P421, P721m, and P822  5.22 (18 Feb 2014)  cp022285.exe  cp022285.md5

and the storage controller drivers load quickly as well

Driver - Storage Controller  HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Controller Driver for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition  6.28.0.64 (18 Feb 2014)  cp020623.exe

Driver - Storage Controller  ** CRITICAL ** HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Controller Driver for Windows Server 2012 x64 Edition  62.28.0.64 (18 Feb 2014)  cp020624.exe

YEah did the SUM when I bought the server, I mistakenly thought you could update the P222 FW with IP but I cannot. Discovered the B120i supports RAID5 though because I wanted the new 5.22 FW to see if it fixes an issue I have with ESXi VMFS5 volumes, and decided to do a quickie install of Server 2008r2, but my breakout cable must be brand new bad as it doesn't see any drives for some reason. heh.
