atcskyfox
I am looking to mod my N54L to use as a NAS with the following parts however my main concern is the chosen RAM. I have seen it on the wiki as confirmed working however I have seen other threads that state it does not. My main questions are: 1)Will the motherboard run the 1600 Mhz Ram or downclock the RAM to 1333Mhz but still work? 2)Also, the RAM is available as Intel or Non-Intel certified for a difference of $10.00. Should I purchase the Intel certified memory or not? 3)Are the parts below recommend for the build above? Thank you for your time an assistance. justaguy
Im not sure why you need a molex splitter and a molex to sata adapter without more detail. However, you might consider a Syba SY-CAB400 molex to sata splitter to simplify things. Edited February 8, 2014 by justaguy
atcskyfox
The reason for the molex splitter is the drive bay adapter from Orico requires a molex power plug. I will need to run one molex power plug to the drive bay from the splitter and then the second molex plug to an sata adapter to power the ssd hence the cable mess. mehtaman
To answer your 3rd question... I have a similar setup to you, my list of components can be found here: http://www.ebuyer.com/lists/list/164345 I also have a 2 bay ICY Dock adapter (and I bought the same spliters), 1 bay has the SSD and the other houses the original HP HDD on which I save backups to. You will have to modify the BIOS in order to get the extra bay adaptor to work.
