Hi Folks,

I've installed Centos 6.5 and have so far failed to get X11 to run at all.

When i try to configure X11 i see this:

[ 87429.432] (EE) Backtrace:
[ 87429.432] (EE) 0: Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x36) [0x46d196]
[ 87429.432] (EE) 1: Xorg (0x400000+0x72f99) [0x472f99]
[ 87429.432] (EE) 2: /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x7f03c9e8b000+0xf710) [0x7f03c9e9a710]
[ 87429.432] (EE)
[ 87429.432] (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x0

Any ideas if its the Matrox driver?

Thanks

Alan

Do you know the hardware requirements to run X11?

I am running Windows 2008 Standard R2, but I think that what I am expereicing maybe related to what you are too.

I have been having an issue running anything that requires DirectX on the built-in Matrox video card, when running the diagnostics utility it show the 3D, DirectShow as being unavailable. I think that HP modified the card or the G200eH has been hobbled in some way. So, for example, I cannot get XBMC to start. I get an error that it can't start the GUI which uses DirectX in a Windows environment. Normally, I could add a supported video card, but in this case, I have a P222 RAID controller installed.

Have you solved the problem? I'm running Gnome CentOS 6.5 on my Gen8 without any issues.

Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike, I should clarify that the issue is when i run startx from a remote machine. If i set to Level 5 desktop runs fine in the local machine or iLO console

Oddly enough, if a run a shell script that runs X for the app, then it pops up fine on my remote machine, but full desktop wont work :(

So the topic isn't really the problem, X runs fine on the server. The issue is you can't get a remote desktop session.

Since you say a remote X application will appear on your local desktop, I'm assuming you're sending the proper ssh switch to tunnel X over ssh.   Having an X application from the remote server appear on your local desktop in this fashion is common, I do it daily. If you want to have a remote desktop session into the remote server from your local system, you need to run something like VNC or freenx on the remote server

Hope this helps
