LoneWolf 157
Just prior to the weekend, HP published the following advisory affecting the B120i/B320i RAID controllers: Advisory: SPP HOT FIX - HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers - DRIVER UPGRADE REQUIRED to Ensure Cached Data in HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i/B320i Controllers with Optional FBWC Is Written to Disk After a Bug Check and Crash Dump Under Windows Server 2008 or 2012 https://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c04045904-2%257CdocLocale%253Den%257CcalledBy%253DSearch_Result&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken HP has posted an updated driver. Interestingly enough, it is only posted under Windows Server 2008 x64, and not Server 2012, despite the above advisory. The driver update is ranked as critical. Note also that as the Microserver Gen8 has no optional FBWC module for the B120i, this may not be a big deal, however, the driver does note under the Enhancements section: "New enhancements for SCSI Verify commands." http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5293151&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D1%257CswItem%253DMTX_1ce4701a7cbf470091efd33f6b%257CswEnvOID%253D4024%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D4%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken The install procedure for Windows Server 2012 and R2 requires extracting the HP .exe with 7-Zip or another extractor, and then updating manually through Device Manager, as the installer will say it is incompatible with Server 2012R2 (I have not tried 2012 but assume the same. Proceed with caution: in my case, I am installing the driver, and will report back what I find. Edited January 19, 2014 by LoneWolf
LoneWolf 157
Driver updated successfully, so far no issues. Driver date is now 11/8/2013, version 6.8.0.64. EDIT: While not under the B120i support page, HP does have a driver update listed for Server 2012R2 under the Microserver page: There the version is listed as 62.8.0.64. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5387585&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253DMTX_166177dda4634c58a9ed2970ec%257CswEnvOID%253D4168%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken When I install this, it lists as a newer version, and updates, so I would recommend using this driver if you are running Server 2012.
