I was a little surprised too. schoondoggy, I'm curious (big surprise there, huh? ;) ) can you think of a situation where you would use one of these instead of just cabling the 2 PCs together via Ethernet?

If I am working on a PC that is not mine, I prefer to keep it off my network. Data transfer to a new computer is easy with one of these.

Ah. I see. I also prefer to keep them off my network -- I just link them together directly with an Ethernet cable, or to a small separate network that has a minimal DHCP server. Mostly, I just link them directly, give them static IPs and go from there. Both our ways seem very sound to me.

The only issue with the transfer cable for me is I would never be able to find it when I need it, or wouldn't have it with me if I wasn't at home -- I pretty much always have access to an Ethernet cable ;) Mind you, at $6 each, I could afford to have several on hand....
