Joe_Miner
I can confirm that the Creative - Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro External USB Sound Card works in the N40L and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work in a Gen8 though I haven't tried that (yet).
Just Checking
Since the N40L (and N54L) only have VGA outputs unless you put in a video card, are you using this surround sound external card to get sound to a VGA monitor? It's nice to know that there are options for getting sound with the microservers when all the slots are full with other stuff and you can't get a sound card in. RacerX
Good tip. I just received the Creative - Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro External USB Sound Card Just plugged it into my N54L, and it works with WHS2011. Plus, Windows found the driver automatically. It's great to have sound Thanks Edited January 22, 2014 by RacerX
ikon
I had similar results with my Bose computer speakers. I'm not a huge fan of Bose, TBH, but the fact that I could plug this into a USB port and it just worked won me over.
OctavianH
Hello all, I can confirm that ASUS Xonar U3 USB sound card works perfectly with MicroServer Gen8. It was automatically recognized by Windows and works with some default Microsoft drivers. Of course, who needs can install the ASUS Audio Center for more features.
oj88
I have a generic USB sound card that also works. What I'd rather have though, is for my N40L to have a POST buzzer/speaker.
