New N54L Boot Problems

Recommended Posts

cskenney

I put the Windows Home Server Disc in the drive and it starts with boot manager asking if I want to do a full system restore in 32 or 64 bit, not the usual new install flash screen that all the guides show.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, this is a first for me  but wouldn't the disk that comes with the server be bootable?

From your messing around the install may be seeing something that was written to the disk from an earlier attempt at installing the OS and think you already have WHS installed.  As JMWills said....wipe the disk clean and start over from the beginning doing the WHS install.

Good to hear.  Get it fully patched and stable before you start adding drive pools, RAID, etc.

Also, before doing anything to a new piece of gear like this (e.g. upgrading RAM) first try it out the way it came -- make sure it works OOB.
