I picked up a couple of these off Amazon the other day for $15 to use with some WD 320 (one black, one blue) 2.5 laptop drives that have been laying around.  Put them in the cases and added them to the Synology for storage.  Everything fits and works great!   http://amzn.com/B002Z2QDNE

Nice. I have a half dozen of these. Very handy. And yup, they slide right into my trayless hot swap cage. Good way to protect the flimsy SATA and power connectors of an SSD.

I wonder how those would work with the drive-only 600GB VelociRaptors on sale right now (they don't include the IcePack they normally come with for 2.5" to 3.5" conversion and cooling.)

According to the Specs on the MB882SP-S1-B1 it would only take 7 & 9.5 mm drives -- the VelociRaptors without the ice-packs are 12mm, so they wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) work.

The EZConvert works really nice in the Gen7 and Gen8 MicroServers:

Ahh. measurements and facts. Pfft. Who uses those? I'd rather order it and then rate it one star on Amazon because it didn't fit the drive I had.

Seriously, it is odd that the pre-sale cost for this model is twice that of the all-metal model which is sometimes preferred according to reviews. I am (ostensibly) at work so can't check out the video, but per Amazon, this model has a plastic top, which presumably would be less efficient at heat transference. Obviously this model is much cheaper with the sale, but I wonder why it was so much more initially.

Edit: Typos. Typos everywhere.
