Connecting two separate networks wirelessly

Recommended Posts

Sluggy

They're going to get a WDTV Live this weekend and wirelessly hook it up to my network. Our two networks will still be completely separate. ATM they're using the HDMI output from a laptop that's wirelessly connected to my network, but only for a couple of days.

Once I get some more time and things cool down some (the next 6 or so months will be close to or over 40C out here) I might try and get a bit technical, but this'll do them for a while.

Cheers, Chris

It appears being out in the boonies is a big plus for you, interference-wise. I take it there aren't many other wireless devices in your vicinity.

No, not too many. A few hundred kW of RF 800 metres down the road, but it's pretty directional (otherwise we might have giant mutant hamsters roaming the streets).

Cheers, Chris

Even if it wasn't so directional it's very unlikely it would interfere with your wireless -- completely different frequency bands.
