Bare Metal or ILO install with a Gen8?

Is there an advantage to just doing a bare metal install on a Gen8 or instead doing the installation via the ILO framework?

ILO installs a bunch of drivers and "stuff" - not sure exactly - as part of the OS installation and was wondering if this is just unnecessary overhead when using the Gen8 in a home environment.

Also, I have no intention of using RAID - if that matters.

Thanks in advance for any insight...

As far as I know, only useable for approved server/Linux OS. I use Win 8 Pro so installed by booting of a USB.
