Hi,

I've got a problem concerning G8 fan speed & control on Debian / proxmox.

I try to install RHEL 6.4 and the noise is ok (0 to 6 % but no more)

I install proxmox which is based on debian wheezy, and the fan is around 37 to 39% with lot of noise.

I install hp repository soft (PSP) but there is no change.

Can somebody can help me to correct this problem ?

I try also lm-sensor + fancontrol but it say pwm don't find fan "compatible"

Have a nice day

I guess you have the disk controller in SATA AHCI mode? At the moment there isn't a solution to:

and the fan is around 37 to 39% with lot of noise.

I have a support case open and HP are investigating

Sorry but I can't find a solution on your link.

My apologies, I don't have a solution, I was just trying to point you toward the discussion.

I would recommend opening a case with HP.

Hi Dof,

there are some scenarios where iLO is not getting enough info to properly control the fan speed.  please open an HP support case because you have different conditions (OS) than others who have reported the issue.   opening the case will help HP nail down root cause and address the issue

first thank you all for your reply.

I open a ticket yesterday on HP France.

The speed on ILO is good because of the reduction of noise :) when ILO say 6% I don't hear the fan.

I've try Ubuntu LTS server but same issue. 39% fan speed.

I use legacy sata, sata ahci and dynamic controller with no change :(

I try fedora or freebsd today normally and can say if it's ok.

I read a lot of topic on this forum and i decide to use soft raid because of fake raid. I'll use a raid 1.

Have a nice day
