To extend my Microsoft Technet subscription, I bought another subscription. As I was setting up my new Technet subscription, I noticed that have access to Office 365. I am in the process of rebuilding my laptop with Windows 8 Pro and wonder if now is a good time to use Office 365. For those that use Office 365, what do you all think?

Office 365 Home Premium is a great deal, 5 computers and 5 mobile devices for $99.99 per year. If you just need it for one computer it may be more cost effective to buy one of the Office 2013 packages.

I think that a lot of retailers are running a deal right now where you can get a year of xbox live for free with purchase of an office 365 subscription.  I guess not everyone needs that, but it doesn't hurt.

Technet Pro Plus license includes a one year O365 E3 plan for 5 users. The Office 365 subscription is not tied to your Windows installation, however if you want to use Office 2013 (That's part of O365) or your TechNet evaulation version of Office 2013 is entierly up to you.

The E3 plan comes with Exchange, Lync, Sharepoint and SkyDrive Pro (Actually part of SharePoint)

If you have a own email domain you could move to Office 365 Exchange and SkyDrive Pro might come in handy but does not offer any other benefits compared to the consumer SkyDrive.

Does that mean you can have 5 different email users using exchange online?

The normal cost of exchange online is $4 per user per month in USA.

This is $7.10 per user per month in Australia (what a difference!!!)

What happens when technet is finished!!!

As far as I know, the Exchange service is separate from Office 365.

My only concern with 365 is performance over a <3 Gps internet connection. Does it take long to load over a poor connection?

You can load Office 365 on the PC directly, it does not need to be web based.
