SolidSonicTH
Hey all. I've already got a homeserver.com domain but I had to recently redo my home server due to a hard drive failure. We're trying to use my Windows Live ID to retrieve my old domain name but it fails every time tries to register it. Is there something going on or am I doing this incorrectly? diehard
If you use WHS2011, you need to use the new URL. http://myserver.remotewebaccess.com http://myserver.homeserver.com only works with WHSv1.
Drashna Jaelre
.homeserver.com should work for WHS2011 as well. Instead of trying to "recover" your domain name (as this sounds like what you are doing), go through the motions to set up a new one. It should "remember" the existing domain (assuming you have the right Live ID account). If not.... you may just need to set up a new one.
SolidSonicTH
I did that too but in either case, after I select the existing domain name, it fails to actually brand it to the server.
Drashna Jaelre
Hmm, that's odd then. I'm not really sure how to fix it.... other than a reinstall.... (maybe sfc /scannow... but I doubt it). I'd recommend heading to "https://connect.microsoft.com/SBS/" and filing a bug.
