Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 (PCI-X SATA controller)

I have one of these boards on the way, and I realized belatedly that I should have checked here first for any issues. I remember hearing good stuff on the podcast about a Supermicro card, but I do not remember if it was this one or the SASLP which is a PCIe 4x.

Also, has anyone actually tried using this PCI-X card in a regular 32bit PCI slot (and got decent performance)?

Better late then never.. I guess..

I have the card, but run it in a pci-x 133mhz slot. If you run it in a PCI 32 bit slot, you're only going to have 133MB/s to share across ALL of the PCI devices in your PC. So...yeah, you'll get degraded performance in read/write, but it will still work for you.

peak transfer rate of 133 MB/s (133 megabytes per second) for 32-bit bus width (33.33 MHz

Thanks for the feedback wodysweb. Yeah that PCI limit might be a problem... I'll have to see how I can reconfigure to limit the impact.

Did you try hot swapping on this card? That's something I'd like to set up too if my hardware can do it.
