MediaSmart 485 Error Message

Good day all,

I maintain a MediaSmart server EX485 that is logging a series of errors every day.

Here is a screenshot of the event viewer log file.

Here are the error details.

Information - Requesting check for software updates.

Information - Performing HP Update maintenance check.

Warning - Unable to load JavaScript rule. Only JScript rules are processed.

Error - Package Rule Script Evaluation Error! Returned: Major: 3 Minor: 3 Sub: 1 Revision: 35433

I have read about this on some other forums, but nobody has come up with an answer, they just leave it go since there are no updates and everything is working.

Has anyone found a fix for this, or should I just leave it alone like the others mention.

Thanks for your time and input.

Mr. Bill

Have you tried reinstalling the updates ?

See if they show up in Control Panel Add/Remove. There should be 3 updates.

MSDV301433085ServerPatch

MSSDV32134990ServerPatch

MSSDV33135433ServerPatch

If the filed downloaded and installed properly, they should be in a folder on the server at C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server\data\.updates\.applied

also check \.pending

Thanks John,

MSSDV32134990ServerUpdate.exe

MSSDV33135433ServerUpdate.exe

These two files are in the .applied folder.

Nothing in the .pending folder.

I was not able to see these in the Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.

I assume that since these are in the HP folder that they are HP updates.

There are only 3 HP programs listed in the Add or Remove Programs.

HP MediaSmart Server 3.0 @ 304.00MB

HP MediaSmart Server/Data Vault 3.0 Patch 2 @ 10.77MB

HP MediaSmart Server/Data Vault 3.0 Patch 3 @ 0.69MB

It looks like I may be missing the MSDV301433085ServerPatch file.

I will do some looking around to see if I can find that.

Thanks.

Depending on when your MediaSmart Server was release, it must have released with MSDV301 and not just MSD300, so that's why you don't see it. Also the other patches would not install if the previous was not included. So your system files look in order.

Maybe something messed up during installation. You could try uninstalling Patch 3, then 2 not 3.0 because that was part of the OS install and you would have to restore the whole image as if it were a new server (messy). Reboot. They apply the .pending Patch 2, reboot, Patch 3.

I would also uninstall the HP connector software on the PC. Then after the updates install the HP's OEM connector from the /Software/ Home Server Connector/ OEM folder.

I will give that a shot.

This is one that I support remotely, so I will wait to get on-site, not feeling that brave.

Thanks again for your knowledge and support.

Where do you find the Patches to reapply them?
